Elias Fuentes

Hello, my name is Elias Fuentes. It's such an honor to be the first ever Community Service Team Lead for Collegiate Double T. I’m thankful to be able to have the opportunity to lead at different events and provide service to my community. I graduated from UTEP in May 2023 with a Bachelor’s in Biology with a Biomedical Concentration. When I have free time, I like to play basketball at the park. Also, I like to play video games such as NBA 2k and Madden.

Let’s have a great year!

My Story

During my time shadowing, it was incredible for me to witness the physician’s role in health care. I work as a scribe at Rio Grande Urology. I transfer the physician’s written notes into the patient’s electronic medical record. If the physician requests a PVR, I scan the patient’s bladder to check for urinary retention. During my first year of Double T, I got accepted into the Community Service Committee. It was an amazing opportunity for me to improve on my leadership skills and work with committee members that are passionate about serving the community. My favorite volunteer event to attend is the RotaCare free clinic. It was inspiring to see physicians and medical students continue to volunteer even with their busy schedules. When I become a physician, I want to volunteer at free clinics to help uninsured patients have access to health care.
